Make Your Mark 3MP

MAKE YOUR MARK

I really enjoyed creating this project. It took a long time but I believe that it was worth it. I loved the concept I was exploring and it turned out pretty well. The hardest part of this project was not getting frustrated because of all the hand coloring I had to do.  My idea is exactly what the title and the piece says. I want to make a mark on the world. Everyone has a purpose for being in the world, you just have to find yours. Each person in the photo above has a different color because each and every person has a reason to be here. No one ever has the same reason. You may have the same color as another person but in reality they are not the same color. They are just different shades. The colors in the project above mis because when you work or are around someone else, you both make an impact on each other. You create something new. No matter how young, old, race, gender or religion you are, you can still make a difference.

My idea came from the idea that there is no one who has a finger print just like yours. As you go around doing your daily activities everyone touches hundreds or thousands of things each day. You have no idea what type of mark you are making on someone else. For all you know that door you held open for someone else at work the other day, maybe they had thought that they were invisible or that they weren't worth anyones effort for anyone. You holding the door could have showed them that they are there. They are being seen and they are worth something. The smallest thing to one person can mean the world to anther person.

While trying to hand color the image I used many sites to help me to color the photo better.

3rd marking peroid

For this project I used the photo below to help me create my idea. I really liked having the text over the globe but I didn't want to go out and find a globe that I liked without having to pay a lot. What I ended up doing was going into photoshop and I created a 2D stand for a globe and then I found a pattern that I liked for the circle of the world. I then added my own text on the inside and then I took that image that I created and I projected it onto a canvas and I traced the image. I decided to use gold to paint everything because I wanted something that would stand out and be seen. Gold means love, courage, passion and wisdom. To make your mark on the world you have to have love for the people in the world, courage to do the right thing, passion to keep on trying to make a mark while everyone has given up and wisdom. The wisdom is because you have to realized that everything that you do can make a difference.

make your mark. 3rd marking period

I really like how this project turned out in the end. It was hard to get the model is a position that I really liked. A lot of the photos it didn't look like the model was truly looking like she had done something that she shouldn't have and was sneaking away with a smug look on her face. I really like the meaning behind my projects recently. I enjoy the fact that it has a true meaning behind it.

For this project I decided to have the background in black in white because I wanted to show that the world is a plain place and unless we all make our mark it will stay that way. I wanted to show that the person in the photo was making their mark on the world which is why they are in color in a world in black and white. To make the painted area try to blend into the wall I took brushes that have paint splatters and I placed them around the wall and then I created a path from the the persons hand to the paint to show that they were the one who had created that.

Once you find your way to make your mark on the world never stop making it.

Idea for project

The photo above I took a photo from the internet to see if I would like my idea that I had seen in my head. I then took a paint splash and put my text over top. I liked being able to create my idea before I do my project that way I have a solid idea of what I want to do once I start on my project.

Make your mark on the world 3MP

For this project I wanted to show how people can make their mark on the world. I originally wanted to use one of my own photos in the background but I didn't think that it made a big enough point. So I decided to use a photo that I scanned in from a book. I used a photo of a medical soldier trying to help a man because even though the soldier isn't the one out on the battle field fighting, he is still making a mark. For all he knows, he is saving a man who could eventually have a huge impact on the world himself. Even if what you do doesn't seem as "drastic" as saving a mans life, what you do can still make a mark on the world. I used a map on the words because it doesn't matter where you are in the world, you can still make a mark. The other letters where the map isn't on the letters I made lighter because the more you help the world the better it will be for others. You are making a mark, a good mark on the world. No matter what you do, you make a mark on the world. Even if its a small thing like holding the door for someone else. It still makes a mark. Everything you do as you go about your day makes a mark. So make sure its a good one.

I like this project because of the meaning behind it, but I also don't like it because of how simple it was. I like doing projects that are really in-depth in photoshop and this one wasn't that hard. I had the letters run off the page to show that the image in the background isn't the only way of helping the world. Its like there is more to the story that you cant see, for all you know there are other people in the photo making a mark different ways. It was meant to show that anything you do can make a mark.

liquids

This project was about liquid splash photography. For this project I took over 900 shots and came up with around 15 pretty decent shots. The ones above are the final outcome. I really enjoy taking photos of liquid photography because of the fact that liquid never is the same way twice. It constantly moves and changes. It is because of this that I love it so much, I don't like living life the same way, just going about my day doing the same thing as the day before. I want life to be an adventure and to have things change all the time. I want life to be exciting. Liquids show us that life has the ability  to change and never be the same as it had been before. If I was to redo this project I would probably try creating some different scenes for the images to be taken in so it wasn't just a plain white background. I would probably have to find a better way of cleaning up my messes... Yay for using 2 rolls of paper towels! Anyway, I can't figure out if I like how the shots ended up. I probably would like them more if I could have managed to remove some of the grain when I was taking the shots but still have the ability to keep the shutter speed fast enough to capture the liquids without blur.

Critiques:

Victoria's thoughts...
Maybe add more color to all of the photos
Like the simple background - its simple enough to focus on the subject matter, but dynamic
enough to make it even more interesting
Loved the corn syrup one. (the one with all the colors in the twirl thing)

Sofia's thoughts...
Find a thought that could go along with the photos (Already said that it shows how time can't be changed. I enjoy change, and I don't want to live my life the same way everyday. So I really did cover this.... oh well)
